Whitburn Surgery

Changes To Our Appointments From Monday 16th March 2020 Until Further Notice

Due to the rapidly changing COVID-19 or Coronavirus pandemic, we are following national guidance and changing the way we operate until further notice.

From Monday 16th March ALL patients who ring for an appointment will be given a telephone appointment with a clinician and if a face-to-face appointment is deemed to be necessary, you will be seen at the practice in a safe way. PLEASE DO NOT JUST TURN UP IF YOU FEEL UNWELL – WE WILL ASK YOU TO LEAVE AND RING TO MAKE A TELEPHONE APPOINTMENT.

Some non-NHS work may not be processed during this period, for example, some insurance forms, PIP appeals, private medicals, copies of medical records etc. Our ultimate aim is to keep patients and staff safe and to do this we must change the way we deal with non-NHS work.

Thanks very much for your cooperation and understanding during this very challenging time.

NO testing will occur here, so please DO NOT COME TO THE SURGERY if you think you are affected as this puts both other patients and our staff at risk.

Advice regarding the Coronavirus

Please do not book a GP appointment or attend your GP Practice if you suspect you may have COVID-19  OR have a Fever or Persistent cough.

Please visit the NHS 111 site for more advice.

Temporary suspension of online patient appointment booking

Due to recent confirmed cases of the Coronavirus within the local area we have temporarily suspended the availability of online appointment booking.  This will enable our reception team to identify any symptoms where patients may need to be directed to 111 for further information.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause, however due to the nature of the current viral outbreak this is to ensure that it is not inadvertently transferred to other patients within our waiting area or to our staff, which would then limit further appointment availability.

Musculoskeletal (MSK) Clinics

An MSK service is to be launched on Monday 4th November 2019, with more immediate appointments available to help patients with back or neck pain or a range of other musculoskeletal conditions. Patients who would normally seek an appointment with their GP can be seen quickly by an MSK Practitioner as an alternative and more clinically appropriate appointment.  Click the image below for more information about the conditions and locations available.

Allocated Named GP

All patients at Whitburn Surgery are allocated a named GP. If you do not know your named GP, please ask at reception and you will be informed. This does not prevent you from seeing any GP in the Practice, as you currently do.

Extended Hours

From 1st September 2017 patients registered in this practice can obtain early morning, late evening, weekend and bank holiday appointments across the CCG.  For more information please view the poster
